Explore Mongolia with Art Wolfe

Join legendary photographer Art Wolfe for an immersive photography workshop exploring abstract imagery in one of the Pacific Northwest’s most inspiring landscapes, the Columbia River Gorge. Known for its dramatic waterfalls, moss-covered forests, and towering basalt cliffs, the Gorge also holds quieter and lesser-known locations that offer extraordinary opportunities for creative expression.

During this workshop, Art will guide participants in looking beyond the obvious and discovering the beauty of texture, pattern, color, and form in the natural world. Through daily field sessions, photographers will learn how to shift their perspective and refine their eye for abstraction while strengthening their understanding of composition, light, and visual storytelling.

The group will be based in the charming town of Hood River, an ideal home base surrounded by spectacular scenery and a vibrant dining scene. Each day combines hands-on photography in carefully selected locations with thoughtful image reviews and discussion designed to deepen creativity and expand artistic vision.

This workshop is ideal for photographers who are interested in moving beyond traditional landscape photography and exploring a more conceptual and expressive approach to nature imagery. Participants will enjoy daily field sessions throughout the Columbia River Gorge, personal instruction from Art Wolfe and Gavriel Jecan, image reviews and inspiring lectures, and access to lesser-known locations that provide exceptional opportunities for abstract photography. The workshop is open to photographers of all skill levels, with minimal to light hiking depending on personal preference, and the group size is intentionally limited to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
