Scam Alert

Please be aware that fraudulent social media accounts have been impersonating Art Wolfe. This page explains how to recognize them and how to report suspicious activity.

We are aware of multiple fake social media accounts impersonating Art Wolfe. Some individuals have used these accounts to mislead followers and attempt scams. Please be cautious, and do not assume that a private message, friend request, or direct outreach is legitimate simply because it uses Art’s name or photos.

Impersonation on Social Media

Over time, a number of impostor accounts have appeared on Facebook and other social platforms pretending to be Art Wolfe. This is not just frustrating. It is serious, because some people have unfortunately been deceived by these imitators.

Many of these fraudulent accounts use Art’s photographs, public images, and familiar details to appear convincing. In many cases, they reference “Thomas Wolfe” or use variations of Art’s identity in an attempt to look legitimate. For someone with a public presence and a large body of published work, it is unfortunately not difficult for bad actors to copy images and create a false impression of authenticity.

It is deeply disturbing to see Art’s name, likeness, and photography used by people attempting to manipulate fans and followers.

How to Spot an Impostor

Fake accounts often imitate Art Wolfe’s public identity by reusing profile photos, shared images, or familiar biographical details. Some may use slightly altered names, duplicate profile images, or account information that looks close to real but is not actually official.

A common pattern we have seen is the use of the name “Thomas Wolfe” or similar variations. That alone should be treated as a red flag.

If something feels unusual, proceed with caution. Suspicious direct messages, private conversations, requests for personal information, or any attempt to build a private relationship through social media should not be assumed to be genuine.

what to look out for:

• altered or unfamiliar account names
• use of public photos and copied imagery
• private messages that feel unusual
• requests for personal contact, attention, or money
