Join renowned photographer Art Wolfe and photographer Libby Pfeiffer for a four-day photography retreat set within the lush landscapes of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. Based in the coastal town of Port Angeles, this workshop is intentionally limited to just eight participants, creating an intimate setting where photographers can explore, learn, and develop their craft with focused guidance.
Spring is one of the most compelling times to experience Olympic National Park. As winter gives way to the growing season, the forest begins to awaken. Vine maples unfurl fresh leaves, mountain snowmelt feeds creeks and waterfalls, and the forest floor reveals intricate patterns of moss, bark, and stone. Before the full density of summer foliage arrives, the structure and atmosphere of the temperate rainforest become especially visible, offering remarkable opportunities for both landscape and abstract photography.
Throughout the retreat, participants will spend their days immersed in these ancient forests, exploring the quiet beauty of moss-covered trees, rushing streams, and the subtle interplay of light and texture that defines this ecosystem. Art and Libby provide thoughtful instruction along the way, helping photographers refine their technical skills while encouraging a deeper approach to composition and creative vision.
This workshop is designed not only to improve technique but also to cultivate the ability to see photographically — recognizing patterns, movement, and mood within the natural world. Whether you are drawn to intimate forest details or expressive interpretations of nature, the Olympic Peninsula offers an inspiring canvas.
Evenings in Port Angeles allow time to relax, review images, and share ideas with a small group of fellow photographers. The combination of extraordinary scenery, focused instruction, and a supportive creative environment makes this retreat both enriching and memorable
